Architecture

The architecture of Grace Point follows a tradition rooted in the American Shingle Style. While this form of architecture has been diverse in its evolution, and renderings of this style can be quite complex, Grace Point seeks a simpler form of this classic style. Located on the Gulf Coast, the community seeks to make a connection to a coastal form of this architecture, as seen in places like Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Cape Cod. Architecture in these coastal areas were earmarked by simple volumes, beautifully proportioned facades, a celebration of the placement of simple elements, and the use of natural materials. The houses of this region spoke to a simpler life, one in which the high style, with its playfulness with roof forms is stripped back to an extremely basic set of unadorned volumes. Such a simplification made the placement and proportion of openings in these volumes of great importance. These structures were so simple, yet when you look at them, something resonates visually about them. It was these forms of American Shingle Style that populate our coastal regions, and which have for decades helped it inhabitants relax, unwind, and enjoy their time away.

Grace Point is built on an architectural foundation rooted in these coastal forms, and yet has an elegant, sophisticated presence that appeals to the most particular of high-end residents, and creates a place in the memory for its residences.

Location

Grace Point is uniquely located south of 30A, nestled between Watersound Beach and Prominence. The long, narrow shape pierces south through the dunes almost touching the water, putting residents in close proximity to the Gulf.

This area along 30A is known as a place to enjoy privacy and a relaxed lifestyle of the beach away from the noise and fray of Seaside. It has always been an area of seclusion offering residents a buffer between it and some of the new urbanism developments such as Seaside, Watercolor and Rosemary Beach.
